Julie A. Lau is a senior executive with over 25 years of experience in public accounting, risk management, and governance. As a Partner in KPMG’s Legal, Risk Management & Compliance practice, she leads a global team of nearly 100 professionals, overseeing the firm’s compliance with auditor independence rules and professional standards. Her extensive career is marked by a deep expertise in providing strategic oversight of complex regulatory requirements and advising senior leaders on emerging risks and governance, ensuring the protection of public trust and the firm’s reputation. Alongside her strategic and regulatory focus, Julie is deeply passionate about performance management, continuous learning, mentorship, and stewardship, consistently dedicating herself to the growth and development of her teams and the next generation of leaders.

Julie’s professional accomplishments are matched by her profound commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. She actively champions these values as a leader in Pride@KPMG and as the Boston Office Partner Champion for the KPMG Network of Women (KNOW), providing senior-level advocacy for the advancement of women. Beyond KPMG, she brings valuable governance experience from her time as the Audit & Risk Committee Chair on the Board of Directors for USA Rugby, and she served the community as a champion for the KPMG Friends & Family for Literacy program. 

Julie graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in Commerce and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Virginia and Massachusetts. Her unique blend of corporate leadership, board-level risk expertise, and passion for inclusive cultures makes her a tremendous asset to the Pride In Our Workplace community.
