Identifying effective operation and communication tools; Scaling governance and leadership models; Interpreting success locally, regionally, and globally; Troubleshooting and anticipating roadblocks

10.25.22 | Community Engagement
PIOW Community Grant Speed Networking and Mentorship Night
In 2022, PIOW launched its Community Grant Program to engage early-stage nonprofits and support them as they expand their operating capacity. Through a year-long commitment to this cohort, our team is working with partners to amplify the visibility of grantees and offer professional development tools to their leadership teams. Find a list of grantees here.
The next stage of our program kicks off on October 25, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm with a speed mentorship and networking night. Join PIOW, grantees, and volunteers from our Sponsor organizations to network and participate in focused, rotating roundtables of Q&As with grantees.
Additional Details – please read before signing up.
PIOW asks that sponsor organizations identify 2-3 volunteers (total) who have professional experience in at least one of the following fields: finance/accounting, board development and governance, nonprofit legal subjects, marketing, mission or vision clarification, DEI, and/or fundraising.
These subject matter experts will have the opportunity to connect with peers in the PIOW ecosystem during opening and closing networking blocks, and will act as mentors to grantees through a series of quick, rotating Q&A sessions.
The objective of speed mentoring isn’t to form a life-long mentoring relationship (although that may happen), but rather to expand the networks of both parties and allow our corporate partners to connect with local LGBTQ+ leaders and lend professional expertise to impact the trajectory of growing nonprofits.

11.9.22 | Signature Virtual Panel Event
Rising LGBTQ+ Leaders
Join PIOW on Wednesday, November 9, from 11:45 am – 1:00 pm for Rising LGBTQ+ Leaders – a panel discussion with early-career professionals navigating the modern workplace. Panelists will be announced soon.
Discussion Topics
- Interpreting the authenticity of workplace culture, allyship, and employee investment
- Balancing self-advocacy against pressures to conform for career advancement
- Identifying trends for managers, recruiting teams, and the next generation of job seekers
If you have a rising LGBTQ+ leader working for your organization (within first 5 years of their career), we would love to consider spotlighting them on this panel. Contact Carly Davis at carly.davis@piow.org with recommended speakers for this event.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many employees can attend each event?
Rising LGBTQ+ Leaders Panel: This event is free, virtual, and open to the public. There are no limits on registration and we encourage you to share event details widely with your team and broader network.
Networking + Mentorship Night: Representatives from PIOW Sponsors can sign up using this form – provide your information and mark your area(s) of interest. The PIOW Grant committee will review submissions and 2 – 3 representatives from each organization will be chosen to participate in the 10/25 event. Because we are looking for subject matter experts specializing in specific areas, it is likely that some who sign up may not be able to participate in this mentorship round. As we schedule similar events in the future, these individuals will be considered for participation.
Virtual Roundtables: Seats for each roundtable will be limited to 2 – 3 representatives per company to encourage meaningful conversation and networking opportunities. We ask that each organization select one employee per roundtable to attend the session and report back to their teams.
The same employee can attend multiple roundtables. We recommend rotating team members so that more professionals have the opportunity to reflect, connect, and get involved in our work.
Do I need to “have it all figured out” to attend a roundtable?
The reality is that no one has it all figured out! Let us meet you wherever you’re at in developing your HR, DEI, or ERG strategy. Come to our roundtables ready to share initiatives you’ve tried, strategies that have been successful, and areas where you may be struggling. Together, we can learn from each other and move towards sustainable, equitable working models.
I stumbled across this page but didn’t receive an invite to the event series. Can I still sign up?
