A message from PIOW Board President, Cheryl Katon:
“Looking back, my first year serving as the President of PIOW’s Board filled my heart with joy and optimism. Often, we can find ourselves so trapped in cyclical discussions of the challenges and disadvantages faced by LGBTQ+ people that we overlook the power of our community and the impact that volunteerism and enthusiasm can have in driving progress.
Reflecting on PIOW’s 2023 Impact Report not only inspires me as a leader, but also maps how our organization can continue stepping up to support our network of LGBTQ+ professionals and allied organizations on the road ahead.
We thank our Board members, Advisory Board members, panelists, bloggers, and so many others who engaged with our programming in 2023. Your contributions were significant and allowed us to explore new ways of capturing stories and creating resources to improve the workplace experience for LGBTQ+ people.
To our corporate Partners, and the LGBTQ+ ERGs and DEI Councils who advocate for our community internally, we thank you for modeling how organizations can utilize their platforms and leverage resources to begin closing gaps in inclusion and equity for all employees.
We predict that 2024 will likely be more challenging than last year. But with your support, we will continue to lean into our community and overcome obstacles together.”
